Tennis and Squash – both are back but..

We are back!

There are still a few conditions but we are nearly back to ‘normal’!

  • If you are unwell – STAY AWAY
  • Use the online court booking system. From our web page via Pay2Play
  • Sign in! Register is in the foyer beside the main entrance door
  • Bring your own towel and water bottle – using the fountains is not recommended
  • Maintain physical distancing
  • Avoid touching shared surfaces – including not wiping your hands on equipment or the squash court walls
  • Use your own equipment and avoid sharing
  • Bump racquets rather than shaking hands after
  • The other common sense things that apply everywhere apply in and around the club also – sneeze/cough, if you have to, into your elbow, wash your hands, use sanitizer before and after…

The bar will likely re-open from next week.  We have removed some of the chairs and rearranged the tables.  This should enable people to socialise and maintain the required social distancing. This is still a bit of a moving feast so please bear with me/us if this takes a little longer than anticipated.

Next Thursday, I think we will have a squash club night, Kaye is organising and it is likely the last couple of Business house tennis matches will be played also, Jono is getting on to this now.  Club day is now also possible.  I have not heard how/if club day is on this Saturday but certainly from next weekend.

Weather permitting there will be a few playing tennis tomorrow afternoon and I know there are a few very keen squashers who will be on the courts too.  As I write this I note that there are already bookings!   If you are hanging out for a hit, and the weather is good, come down for a hit.  I’m planning to call into the club hopefully find a hit oft Squash and or Tennis.

Play safe, stay safe but play…

Hope to see you at the club sometime soon.

Tennis is reopening – but with restrictions

Welcome Back Level 3 – 1 May 2020

Under this level we can open the Tennis courts but with conditions – please abide by them

  • Do not enter the clubrooms – under any circumstances – the camera will see you!
    • The clubrooms, WC’s, squash courts, kitchen, water coolers are not able to be used at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    tennisball

  • Courts must be booked on line
    • We must manage who and how many people are on the courts
  • Log onto tennis.kiwi/checkin and leave all attendees’ details
    • We are required to track and be able to trace everyone who uses the courts. This is imperative!  If you cant log on for any reason please send a text to Jono with your details.  We need to be able to trace people who use these courts.
  • Play within your bubble
  • Wipe down any surfaces you touch or are likely to touch both before and after you play – Spray and 2 buckets of soapy water will be left on Court 3 for use. Please let us know if it is missing or running low.
  • If you need to use the keypad to enter the courts – please also spray this.

To make access simpler please do not re lock the gate between 0900 and 1800hrs. (it makes for several fewer contact points).

Jono Boundy – the tennis captain, has balls available and will also open the courts most mornings and close them.  If you are here after 6.00 pm and the courts are still open, please close the gate as you leave.  Jono and I will also be dropping by to open and lock the courts (we may not if the weather is inclement so please bear with us.)

For questions or enquiries (or new balls) please call Jono on 027 2807100

Stay safe – see you back in the club and on the squash courts again soon.

Covid-19; Warkworth Tennis and Squash club is now closed

These are different times indeed. Unprecedented.

In line with recommendations and the action of other similar clubs the Warkworth Tennis and Squash Club will be closed until such time as the level of alert is reduced and we are advised and confident it is ‘safe’ for the club to resume its activities.

Isolation has been determined as the ‘best’ way to address the risk of transmission of Covid-19 in New Zealand and you are expected to adhere to the instruction from our national leaders.

In line with the announcements made over the last few days effective from tonight…

There will be no club activities until further notice.

No inter club

No inter house

No club sanctioned/funded coaching or training

No Club days or activities of any kind

No organised competition or gathering of any kind in the club

Given the directive from the Government this afternoon it is expected that there will be no activity of any kind in the club until the situation with Covid-19 is stabilized and we are advised it is safe for people to associate outside their household units.

We trust/hope that you are safe and remain healthy in body and mind during this time and look forward to seeing you back on the courts and at club organised events soon.

Our Tennis and Squash club captains will likely also be in touch.

At this time please do also be aware of those in our communities who are or become extremely isolated due to condition or circumstances and please do what you are able to assist or ensure they also remain well.  This could be anything from making a phone call to check up on them to notifying authorities if you become aware someone is at risk or suffering.

You, the Tennis and Squash club members are an active, proactive, positive enthusiastic and vibrant group of people  You should be assured you are valued by myself and the committee, and in all likeliness every person you have met on court or in the club.  I/we (the committee) look forward to seeing you in the club for a hit and a catch up as soon as the risk has abated.

Stay strong, share the love, look after yourselves.
